Welcome

Welcome to the fifth edition of CANI Connections. You're receiving this message because of your relationship with CANI. This e-mail is designed to inform you of events and relevant news from the agency, in between issues of our hard copy newsletter, CANI Chronicles (published 6 times a year.) Thank you for your interest and happy reading!

Look Who's Blogging Now!

It seems like just yesterday we launched our blog, Inside CANI, but it has actually been almost two years! So we decided it was time for a few changes: a new design and a new voice. Executive Director Steve Hoffman has taken the helm (or keyboard in this case). He will provide a new and different perspective we hope you will find of interest. What are you waiting for? Check it out here.

Don't Lose Your Cool!

The "dog days" of summer can really take their toll on families struggling to keep their homes at a comfortable temperature. Luckily CANI is here to help with the Summer Cool program, in effect now through Aug. 31st.

Foundations: Now Enrolling

Behind every good business is a solid foundation. That's why CANI has introduced Foundations, a business-planning course designed for people who have dreams of starting their own business.

Foundations graduate and CANI staff member Sue Pearson (below, left) says the things she learned in the class have benefitted her business, SuzHan's Jewelry Designs:

"I learned how to create and write a Small Business Plan, create a Mission Statement, create and track a Financial and Budget Statement, how to market my product and invent strategies to reach my customers and potential customers."
Sue Pearson(left) completed Foundations and now runs her own jewelry business.

We are gearing up for another session, starting Sept. 12. Cost for the class is a $200 investment. For more information about Foundations, contact Barb Cayce, (260) 423-3546, ext. 257.
