Moringa Cultivation Focal Areas: Environment & Health
The rains finally arrived and our moringa project was jump-started! The students at Nadosoito Primary School are taking great care of the plants and the community is already using the leaves to make tea and to cook with.
Another nursery of plants is being cultivated at Mkonoo village by the Mkonoo Women's Network there, supported by Terrawatu. The women have just reported to our office in Arusha that they are also harvesting the leaves of the moringa plants and using them to brew tea. They are very happy, as the leaves of Moringa oleifera are an excellent source of many vitamins and minerals.

We expect that by September we will begin processing the seeds. Both the oil extracted from the seeds and the seeds themselves provide an economical source of protein when used as a food supplement, as well as providing additional nutritional benefits for these rural communities.
This exciting project - initiated in partnership with JSFoundation of Belgium - has the goal of establishing food forests with new varieties of plants in addition to Moringa, all with high nutrient content, essentially creating a healing garden that people can use in their kitchen, and later, to sell for business.
Target your impact with specified support for a child at an orphanage, moringa cultivation or technology for education.
You can easily set up monthly, quarterly or annual giving.
