Dear friends of Terrawatu,

Our Kio Kit arrived safely in Tanzania! (we were able to receive it from Nairobi just before the Kenyan national elections disrupted business as usual for a short spell)

We kept the kit safely in our Arusha office while we prepared the community at Natema Primary School for its deployment. It was important to lay the groundwork at the school so that teachers, students and parents understood what these gadgets are good for and to make assessments of needs and knowledge before and after the introduction of the Kio Kit.

The Terrawatu IT team familiarized themselves with the tablets and assessed all the content that is available on the system so they could find ways to present the technology to the teachers. A series of training workshops with teachers were conducted at Natema Primary School before introducing the Kio Kit
to a select group of students. As there are only 40 tablets in the Kio Kit and over 1,000 students at the school, a special class has been created to begin piloting the system at the school.

Terrawatu also provided laptops connected to the internet for teachers and administrators to use to improve their work. The introduction of all this new technology happened just a few weeks ago so we are still in the early days. Stay tuned to this space to see how things develop!

Wishing you a great day further.
Warmest regards,

Dr. Tanya and the Terrawatu Team in Tanzania
 4 Bags Left!
There are 4 bags left in the 2017 Collection of the Chic Maasai Leather Bag. Terrawatu's Women's Group in Mkonoo Village produced a limited number of these stunning, handcrafted leather bags, each one with a completely unique design. Truly, each bag is one-of-a-kind. They are available for purchase in the United States and Canada.

Its design is modeled after the traditional bag used to carry water. The leather is sourced from local cattle after providing people with an important food source. A Maasai woman has hand-beaded each bag in her own creative style which she hopes you will enjoy for many years to come. Your purchase of a handbag provides much needed income to the women of the village so they can help support their children.

The bags are black or natural brown in colour. To receive photos and pricing please email
