October 7, 2016 - The WGBC held its inaugural 2016-2017 speaker series event featuring organizational leaders who are transforming their communities through a commitment to environmental and social sustainability. Panelists shared specific examples of how they are influencing and engaging their communities.
  • Con Edison Neighborhood Program engaged the community in ideas and incentives to reduce energy demand, avoiding the need to build a new power plant.
  • Arc of Westchester - 70 locations in Westchester. Green initiatives are practiced across all locations and programs from early childhood to wellness and recreation.
  • Greenburgh Nature Center - Collaborating with local schools and businesses on recycling, green products and composting; engaging volunteers to advance sustainability goals.
  • United States Tennis Association - Sustainable initiatives influencing local communities, staff, USTA members, tennis fans and local communities. The US Open features a wide range of initiatives visible to attendees and the new Grandstand Court is the first LEED certified tennis court in the world.
  • Westchester Community Foundation - Supporting sustainable and resilient communities in Westchester including convening & connecting thought leaders, linking national trends to local initiatives and developing livable communities.
