Recent Activity

Supported reforms to support small and medium businesses, like those in Bromsgrove at the Telegraph's Festival of Business 2015. 

Visited Ricor in Studley and was impressed with their tremendous growth in the metals sector.

Spoke at the City UK Annual Dinner.

Supported Worcestershire White Ribbon campaign against domestic abuse and sexual violence. 

Met with West Mercia Police to discuss hate crime in North Worcestershire. Pleased to meet the new North Worcestershire Superintendent, Alex Franklin-Smith.

Delighted to open a new nursery, 'My First Friends in Bromsgrove', with some little helpers!

Supported businesses at the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership Annual Conference.

Opened Kimal's new Innovation Centre in Bromsgrove, an excellent example of Britain’s capabilities of creating new generation products.

Emphasised the importance of innovation at Innovate 2015.

Feeling festive outside the winner of the Bromsgrove High Street Christmas shop window competition. Well done to Cancer Research UK for their brilliant display!

Appeared on Question Time in Stoke-on-Trent.

Welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Jaguar Land Rover manufacturing base in Solihull. A wonderful example of how British business can benefit from an even stronger India-UK partnership.

Discussed the importance of free trade at Chatham House.

Witnessed the signing of the historic West Midlands devolution deal for our Midlands Engine.

Encouraged to meet with Bromsgrove District Council's local growth team to discuss Bromsgrove High Street Market and more. 

Supported UK food & drink manufacturing at the Annual Food and Drink Federation President's Reception.

Opened the London Stock Exchange with US Ambassador Matthew Barzun, marking the launch of new US Global Entry scheme for UK citizens.

Met with young learners and further education leaders to celebrate the work of the Association of Colleges across the UK.

Unveiled the Midlands Engine Prospectus with plans to turn the Midlands into an engine for growth at the University of Birmingham.

Opened the University of Birmingham's Centre for Cyrogenic Energy Storage.

I'm pleased to report that unemployment in Bromsgrove is down by 61% since 2010. This is encouraging news, but there is still more to do.

Finally, I will be holding my second Bromsgrove Jobs Fair on Friday 5th February 2016. With over 30 local employers, there will be many jobs and apprenticeships on offer.
