Recent Activity

Visited Chapter in Wythall to help celebrate their fourth anniversary, a successful locally-based advertising agency with international clients.

Visited Zinga restaurant in Aston Fields, nominating it for the 2013 Tiffin Cup.

Met with Food Waste Solutions UK, an inspiring local company that provides sustainable food waste solutions.

Visited NewStarts in Aston Fields and helped launch its new van, a fantastic local charity that focuses on helping people on very low incomes with essential household furniture.

Met with Bentley Parish Councillors and members of the Bentley Area Action Group to discuss a proposed new development site.

Attended the English Symphony Orchestra concert at the Artrix, part of the superb Bromsgrove Music Festival 2013.

Secured the visit of the Health Minister, Dan Poulter MP, to see our Alexandra Hospital and listen to concerns over the local health review.

Visited Airware International Limited, a successful small business based in Stoke Prior specialising in the supply of  air compressors and associated equipment.

Met Penny Venables, CEO of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, to discuss local healthcare issues, and the ongoing review of local services.

Met with a group of local business people, and discussed the recent Budget.

Discussed E-Lites growing business plans with its management, the UK's leading electronic cigarette brand based right here in Bromsgrove.

Held my regular advice surgeries throughout the month, and attended to my duties as Economic Secretary to the Treasury.

Launched ‘Sajid’s Choice’ craft beer, brewed by Bird’s Brewery in Bromsgrove, to celebrate the first cut in beer duty in over half a century.

Sajid Javid yesterday joined Alistair Darling in calling for the Labour Party to come clean about its spending plans for 2015/16. This comes as Labour’s Treasury spokesman, Chris Leslie, refused six times in just one interview to answer whether Labour backed the £11.5 billion of savings planned for that year.

The number of unemployed people in Worcestershire has fallen. Figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that 10,018 people didn't have a job in the three months up to March this year, down by 748 on the same period last year.

Worcestershire’s MPs have today commented on the county’s acute hospital provision and on the ongoing joint strategic review being undertaken by the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust. The JSR, initiated some 18 months ago, is looking into the long term provision of acute hospital services in the county.
