I will be holding two more of my summer public forums in early August, and I would be delighted to see any local residents who would like to attend - after all, I am there to answer your questions!

Recent Activity

Attended a House Meeting in Belbroughton to meet residents and discuss local concerns.

Participated on the panel of Haybridge High School’s “Question Time” event, along with District Councillors Chris Scurrell and Steve Colella and former County Councillor Ed Moore.

Visited Barnt Green Cricket Club before their match against Walmley (which resulted in a draw).
Met Leslie Murphy, NHS England Area Director, to discuss local healthcare.
Visited the Princess of Wales Community Hospital’s Minor Injuries Unit and the recently opened New Haven mental health unit.
Met Ken Wigfield, Regional Chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses, and Angela Fitch, Development Manager, to discuss small business needs. 
Visited the archeological dig on Market Street with County Councillor Anthony Blagg and was given a tour of by project leader Richard Bradley, from Worcestershire County Council.
Attended the CAMRA event in Westminster and was presented with the pump clip of 'Sajid's Choice', brewed by Bromsgrove’s very own Bird’s Brewery to celebrate the cut in beer duty earlier this year.
Popped into the Heritage Lottery Fund meeting with the Bromsgrove Museum Trust.
Visited the Holocaust Art exhibition at Woodrush Academy.
Held my summer public forums for Bromsgrove residents - in Barnt Green, Alvechurch, Wythall and Rubery, which were also attended by District Councillors Rod Laight, Chris Scurrell and Richard Deeming and County Councillors Anthony Blagg and June Griffiths - in addition to my regular advice surgeries for constituents

Mr Javid said: "Whilst I agree that MPs should not have a say on their pay, at a time of public pay restraint, it would be wrong for MPs' salaries to go up. I think that the cost of politics should go down, not up."

Young People Put 'Your Questions' To Heavyweight Political Panel

Haybridge High School and Sixth Form, Hagley, is hosting a heavyweight political debate on Friday 12th July. Students, staff, families and local community members will be welcoming five high profile politicians and academics to the ‘Your Questions’ event aimed at firing young people’s enthusiasm to take part in democratic life.

Bromsgrove MP warns payday lenders over new regulations

Mr Javid said there was now going to be ‘a step change’ in the way payday lenders were regulated after concerns were raised over customers not getting a fair deal at a Department for Business, Innovation and Skills summit this week.

The recent statement from Sajid Javid, Economic Secretary to the Treasury, that he is encouraging all MPs to give to charity through Workplace Giving as well as the continued effort from the private sector will all help to build the awareness and effectiveness of the scheme

Bromsgrove MP welcomes new funding formula for schools

Bromsgrove's MP, Sajid Javid, has welcomed the Government’s commitment to changing the school funding formula, confirmed in the Spending Round.

MP Sajid Javid labelled that as one of the highlights of the spending review. “This is a dramatic change that we have been fighting for for years. Despite having to make new cuts, we have protected hospitals and schools.”
