Recent Activity

Visited Curo Chartered Accountants in Stoke Prior to talk to staff and partners and hear about the business.

Met the Chief Executive of Bromsgrove District Council, Kevin Dicks, and the Council Leader, Roger Hollingworth, to discuss local matters important to Bromsgrove.

Visited Hop Pole Inn in Bewdley and met landlord Peter Hedges, who told me about his garden-grown hops which produced 22 firkins of ale being sold in the pub – truly organic stuff!

Attended and spoke at the Bromsgrove Unionist Club's Centenary Ball.

Held a 'house meeting' in Hagley to discuss issues raised by local residents - if you are interested in holding a house meeting for you and your neighbours, please just let me know.

Attended the 'West Midlands Regional Conference' and gave a speech on ‘Building an Aspiration Nation'.

Spoke at the 'Supporting Small Business' reception held at KPMG's Birmingham office and introduced Marcus Jones MP as the small business ambassador for our region.

Met a young family moving into one of the 16 new BDHT properties, available to buy under the Trust's shared-ownership scheme, in Forge Close, Catshill, 

Held my weekly advice surgeries for local residents - if there is any issue with which I might be able to assist you, please just get in touch.

Sajid Javid, City minister, said a growing economy was not enough and that people needed help with their living costs. “[Labour has] got some ideas on the use of interventions that in themselves are worth considering and looking at,” he told Total Politics magazine in an interview published this week but given in September.

Sajid Javid, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, criticised the Financial Conduct Authority’s inability to speed up the process of paying redress to victims of the mis-sale of complex interest rate derivatives by the country’s biggest banks.

Speaking at a parliamentary backbench debate, Sajid Javid said that the evidence of Britain's biggest banks taking months, or even years, to deliver some form of determination on whether businesses have been mis-sold interest rate swap agreements, let alone offer compensation, will support the view that a deadline needs to be put in place.

Sajid Javid, the new Financial Secretary to the Treasury, unveiled plans to radically reform the UK’s bank payment system. He announced a new regulator will be set up to end the big banks’ domination of the network which deals with more than 17 billion non-cash payment transactions a year.

Bromsgrove's MP says he is delighted after receiving a promotion in the Government’s latest ministerial reshuffle. Sajid Javid moved up from Economic Secretary to the third most senior position; Financial Secretary to the Treasury, in the coalition reshuffle announced yesterday, (October 7).

A Tory MP who has been tipped as a future Chancellor is in line for rapid advancement in a Government reshuffle this week. Treasury Minister Sajid Javid, the son of a bus driver, will be given a senior ministerial job at ‘the door of the Cabinet’ by David Cameron, as the Prime Minister hands out promotions to the brightest members of the 2010 intake of Tory MPs.
