Recent Activity

Met Superintendent Kevin Purcell and Chief Inspector Helena Bennett to discuss local policing matters.
 
Organised and hosted a charity funding information event for Bromsgrove charities, held at the Spadesbourne Suite and attended by over 70 members of local charities in addition to 10 representatives from funding organisations.
 
Met Penny Venables, CEO of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, to discuss local health issues and the future of the Alexandra Hospital.
 
Visited Sidemore’s new ‘health hub’, part of The Trunk, with Managing Director Debbie Roberts. 
 
Opened the International Womens' U25's Indoor Bowls Tournament held at Charford’s Indoor Bowls Club and met club director Peter Cliff.
 
Met Gordon Dipple to discuss ways to support and promote the ‘Bromsgrove Past & Present’ facebook page.
 
Took part in the Basement Project’s new ‘4ward 2 the Future' programme of Saturday morning opportunities aimed at helping young people learn new skills and create better futures for themselves.
 
Attended an event in Westminster hosted by the National Autistic Society.

Met with Hagley residents to discuss local and national planning policy.

Discussed legacy school PFI issues with Paul Topping, headteacher at South Bromsgrove High School.

As joint lead minister, took the Welfare Uprating Bill through Parliament.

Charities in Bromsgrove do good work throughout the year, helping many people who need it most.  But charities themselves also often need assistance in providing their services, securing funds and finding volunteers.

Bromsgrove charities can find fresh funding opportunities at an event being held next month. Town MP Sajid Javid has organised the event, where representatives from local charities will be able to meet the funding bodies looking to support the charitable and voluntary sector.
