When David Nixon was homeless and on the streets trying to figure out how he was going to survive on his own, he didn’t see himself at a beautiful golf club in Malvern, Pa. talking to professional men and women who were genuinely interested in what he had to say.
But that’s what happened on October 8th at Chester Valley Golf Club for our annual Turning Points for Children Golf tournament. A room full of men and women gathered together in support of the event and were introduced to David, a shining example of how our programs and our staff are often the turning points in the lives of those we serve.
David spoke about entering into the YVLifeSet Program, a researched based program that assists young adults leaving state care to become successful independent adults, and how his specialist taught him about budgeting and helped him find a place to live and gain employment.
David considers the staff at Turning Points his family and says without YVLifeSet he would still be homeless.
After sharing his story, David drew the winning ticket for The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia package. The winner was present and was so inspired by David’s story that he gave him a big hug.
The golf tournament was more than just great golf, great food, great prizes and great networking.
It was a great opportunity to remember that with the right resources our children and young adults can go anywhere and do anything.
It was a great opportunity to see how your support changes lives every day.
David’s life has been changed because of people like you.
Make a gift today and together we’ll create more success stories like David.
