From Dawn: The Power of Partnerships…

Dear <<First Name>>,

Partnerships are vital to achieving our mission for many reasons. They help us strengthen and expand our programs and services, allow us to increase awareness and achieve greater impact, and donations and grants from community partners are key in this crucial work because the need exceeds the available funding.
Turning Points is extremely grateful for our generous partners and want to recognize a couple of them this month. Two big funders came forward in support of our YVLifeSet program for youth aging out of foster care. First, the "This is Love" campaign from Epic Church led to the church presenting us with a $10,000 check collected from the congregation!
Secondly, the Transition Network Philadelphia Giving Circle gave us a $20,000 check after hearing from a participant about how the YVLifeSet program helped heal the wounds of 12 years in the foster care system.

There are lots of big hearts in our city providing support to youth, children and families in our care–we never take it for granted. Turning Points extends a huge thank you to all of you who help us in our mission! If you or somebody you know would like to be a turning point and support our cause, please contact us at

E3: Educating, Employing, and Empowering

In 2014, Marilyn gave birth to her daughter. While this should have been a wonderful event, she was still in high school. Unable to find reliable daycare for her newborn, she had to drop out. Marilyn only dropped out of school because she needed to be there for her child—she prioritized her daughter’s wellbeing over her own needs as any good mother would.

Fortunately for Marilyn, her situation was exactly what Turning Points’ E3 program is designed to help. E3 stands for Employment, Education, and Empowerment, and is a program that takes ambitious dreams and helps make them a reality for people who lack the resources to do so on their own.

With the help of E3, Marilyn is now:
  • Educated: In just a few months, she earned her GED as valedictorian of her class, then soon after she received an Associates Degree in Human Services with honors.
  • Employed: First at E3 itself, where her people skills landed her a job as a receptionist, and now as an emergency medic.
  • Empowered: Marilyn was able to succeed in her goals to obtain a stable job so that she can provide a great life for her young family, overcoming the stigma of being a "drop-out". Marilyn was the commencement speaker at this summer's E3 graduation, sharing her story and inspiring others.
At Turning Points for Children, we believe in a thriving community for all. That everyone deserves a chance to change their life for the better. To find a turning point in their circumstance. You are that turning point. Please continue to support our mission and together we’ll create more success stories like Marilyn’s.
Turning Points was thrilled to recieve an incredibly generous grant from the members of Epic Church Philadelphia. The money will be going to YVLifeSet, and will help many young adults who have aged out of the foster care system. Thank you to Epic Church and all of our supporters, you help Turning Points change the lives of over 17,000 Philadelphians.
A fun day on the course for a great cause!
