Dear Valued CSBH Community Member,
Mental Health America of Greater Houston is pleased to announce that Dr. Jamie Freeny has joined our team as the new Director for the Center for School Behavioral Health. Her tenure with us begins on Monday, November 18, 2019. She comes to us from Harris Health Systems where she served as the Manager, Population Health, which included work with 5 school-based clinics.
One of Jamie’s greatest strengths is in gathering leaders and community advisers with diverse perspectives to promote practical solutions to benefit vulnerable and under-served people. Her policy work includes reviewing legislation, legislative compliance, policy changes, and aligning efforts with collaborative partners.
Jamie earned her Master’s degree and Doctor of Public Health degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center, School of Public Health. Her dissertation is titled: “Adverse Childhood Experiences, Depression, and Resilience in African-American Adolescents.” She earned her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology from the University of Kentucky.
We are confident that both Jamie’s experience and talents will most certainly contribute to the advancement of the work of the Center, in partnership with you, to improve the behavioral health of students.
Beginning Monday, November 18 you can reach Jamie at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have any questions or concerns during this transition process, please do not hesitate to reach out to Renae Vania Tomczak, MHA’s CEO at email@example.com.
