A massive welcome to all new subscribers to the Transition Belper newsletter. We are a group of local volunteers and we rely on the knowledge, energy and interest of people like yourself to grow and make a difference to Belper and the surrounding DE56 area. We encourage you all to get involved, even if its only responding to surveys or joining our Facebook page, as Transition Belper gets involved in more and more projects and activities.

Influencing the Sustainability of
Belper & DE56 through to 2028
The Amber Valley core strategy is currently under public consultation. Transition Belper would like to respond on the Sustainability of the Strategy and we need your thoughts, ideas and suggestions. For the following areas we have two questions we would like your feedback on ;
1, Is there anything you have read in the Core Strategy that needs challenging ? (assumptions, thinking or specific plans)
2, What should be included in the Core Strategy to make Belper and surrounding areas (DE56) more sustainable ? (assumptions, thinking or specific ideas)
The areas covered in the Core Strategy are;
Community Cohesion, Health & Wellbeing
Green Infrastructure, Biodiversity
Built and Natural Heritage
Transport and Accessibility
Economy and Employment
In July, August and September we are inviting you to swap one journey a week that you usually make by car, and make it instead by walking, cycling, using the bus or using the train. Entries will be entered into a prize draw, drawn on 7th October. World Carfree Day is on 22nd September. Forms are available on the website and can also be picked up at Strutt Street Bakery.
The Transition Belper Travel & Transport Group are extremely excited about enabling people in Belper to travel more sustainably, and the positive benefits this will bring to our health, our money and the environment. To find out more, please see www.transitionbelper.org, e-mail email@example.com or phone Jennie on 07724560827.

Can you help us with our Locally produced food and drink map ?
People who came along to our last Transition Meeting at the Strutts on the 2nd July and also the visitors to our stall at the Food Fair tried to identify as many local Food and Drink producers as we could. We would now like to produce a google map showing all the producers and where we can all buy the local produce.
