Rosh Hashana Greetings

Dear Friends,

As we celebrate Rosh Hashana, we look back at how we've grown and what we have achieved. We have continued to proudly organize free family fun-day events for children with a parent or sibling with cancer, or who have experienced a cancer loss in their immediate family. By bringing Jeremy's Circle kids together in a fun atmosphere, we show them that they are not the only ones in their situation, and that it is okay to laugh and play and BE KIDS.

We are pleased to fill you in on our activities since our last update in December and share a few of the emailed thanks we received from our families.

Our latest fun days

We opened the summer with a trip to the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo. Besides all the animals, a special highlight for the kids & their parents was an open train ride crossing the entire Zoo. Our next event was a two day teen adventure including an overnight stay at the Beresheet Forest. The teens were challenged by both individual and group activities in nature while building friendships. Our next family event was a guided tour of the  relatively new attraction, Carasso Science Park in Beer Sheva. We divided into small groups led by certified Science Park guides, enabling the kids to explore the large range of hands-on science projects to their fullest.

Our final summer activity was at our family favorite White Bear Indoor Adventure Park - with bungee-swings, rope-bridges, climbing walls, trampolines and more. On a personal note, at White Bear we were so happy that Jeremy's sister, Juliette Coleman & her family who were visiting from England could join us.

Earlier in the year, on Shushan Purim we visited Park Utopia in the heart of the Sharon region near Netanya. This enchanting tropical rain forest grows with thousands of orchids from around the world, tropical plants, a myriad of animals and even carnivorous plants. The next event was a teen-only affair. During the Shavuot school vacation our teens loved our day-long trip Sandboarding in the Negev

Growing more professional

Our community continues to grow with new families joining us each event. As we grow, our part-time director Yitz Feigenbaum is helping professionalize all aspects of the organization including the organization of our fun days, communicating with social workers and coordinating our fundraising so we can continue with the special work of Jeremy's Circle. With Yitz's help, we (finally!) received tax deductible status for all our donations in Israel (46a).

Growing the Circle

I am reaching out to you, a friend and past supporter, to ask you to help Jeremy's Circle continue our important work in the New Year. We have much planned for the upcoming year including even more fun-days around the holidays and summer vacation, and strengthening our teen programming.

Reaching these goals depends solely on our ability to fund these activities in a timely fashion. I hope you will consider contributing at this time. Please see our donation page or click the relevant button to the right to make a tax deductible donation in the US, England or Israel.

You can also help us expand Jeremy's Circle by sharing this update to anyone you believe may wish to join our Circle, as a member-family, a volunteer, a donor, or who is simply interested in what we do.

Thank you and Shana Tova!
Pamela Becker
Co-Founder & Chairperson

Don't forget - your contribution to Jeremy's Circle is now a recognized tax-deductible donation in Israel too (46a).

"To all the volunteers of Jeremy's Circle, we want to thank you for the fun two-day outdoor event you had for the teenagers. My kids, O- and H- enjoyed it very much.

They enjoyed so many new experiences including sleeping away from home in a tent for the first time! They had many different activities during their stay at the Bersheet Forest.

They came back home so happy - they wouldn't stop talking about it. Well done! We enjoy all your activities. Thanks so much!
"Thank you so much for the great day at the White Bear Adventure Park. I really had a lot of fun with my kids, I am near the end of my treatment and days like this one make me forget about my illness

About Jeremy's Circle

Jeremy's Circle's mission is to create a supportive community based on friendship and fun for the children and young teens in Israel growing up with cancer in their families or who have suffered a cancer loss.

Jeremy Coleman had three children aged 6 months to 6 years when he was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer in May 2007. Jeremy's Circle was inspired by the friends and family that embraced his kids – taking them out for hikes, sleepovers, movies and barbecues â€“ when he was in treatment.

Jeremy worked together with his wife Pamela and sisters Juliette and Naomi on the vision and structure of the organisation that would provide support to other children similar to his own. Jeremy died on July 8th, 2008.
