Booster News

Boosters is looking for a couple of non-band parents (read: choir or orchestra!) to pick up carnations (pre-ordered/paid for) and pin them on senior band students on Thursday, May 23, beginning at about 615pm. A band parent took care of choir seniors, and another band parent will be handling the orchestra seniors. If you can help with this, please reach out to Beth Stockdale, bstockdale812@comcast.net.

The Walled Lake Northern Music program doesn't run well without the help of parents. We have an active Booster community that works hard to support band, choir and orchestra. For those who were active elementary parents and find themselves missing that environment, we would welcome your help with all things Booster! Our Booster board will be changing in the coming year - we're looking for someone to take on the role of President. Our Treasurer will be graduating next year as well; we'll need someone to fill that role. Our choir and orchestra rep roles need filling as well. (These are people who assist the directors as needed and represent the program interests at Booster meetings.) We've also recently received word that our Scrip coordinator needs to pass her job along, too. So many important roles to fill... It's a great way to get involved, be 'in the know', and get to know people.

A common thing I'm hearing in online communities is how hard it is for us parents to make friends once our kids are older. I'm here to tell you Boosters was the answer for me! I've made some very good friends over the years. We've spent hours together, pouring water for marching band kids during camps and games; we've spent hours outfitting kids with uniforms (both concert & marching band!) and collecting them at the end of the year; we've fed the kids at camps and during the Collage concerts; we've prepped for marching band camp & gone to camp together.  My last child will be graduating next year, and I know I've made lifelong friends on this road. It's a journey made much better by sharing it with others.

We're still looking for someone(s) to take over the Concessions chair role. If there is anyone interested in taking on this job, sooner is better than later so you can shadow our outgoing chairs, Joe & Katy Settecerri. You can let them know if you're interested by sending them an email: jksettecerri@msn.com. Additionally, the role of Booster president will be opening up at the end of next year at the very latest (sooner is better, though!) If you're looking for an opportunity to learn the ropes, let Beth Stockdale know, bstockdale812@comcast.net.

Concessions News

IMPORTANT: We've  learned that our current concessions chairs will be unable to continue in this role. We need someone to step in and take over the mantle from them. It's a big job, but it's very manageable. Please, reach out to Joe & Katy Settecerri if you're interested in learning the ropes with the goal of taking the reins from them, jksettecerri@msn.com.

WLNMB Sheet Sale Is Back!

Sheet Order pickups are happening on April 25, 6-8pm in the Commons.

Cookbooks

Hello music booster families! Thank you so much for all your support with our Music Booster Cookbook fundraiser! It was wildly successful. It seems we have more cook books left over than we should. Can you please contact Amy Walker and let her know if you have not received the books you ordered? I want to make sure everyone received what they purchased. We still have cookbooks for sale if anyone is interested they are $22 each!  Please contact Amy Walker and let her know if you want one! Crazymomamy5@gmail.com

Young Americans
The Young Americans camp is coming to WLN this summer! This event is a fundraiser for the performing arts programs at WLN (NOT Boosters). If you have a student (grade 3-12) who likes to sing, act or dance, this is a great camp for them! For more information, see the flyer.

Marching Band

Another Marching Band Registration is upon us, Tuesday April 23rd. All forms are uploaded and are in Charms for you to access. Please log into your account and then click Handouts and Files. Your forms to be filled out and uploaded will be in the 2019 Marching band folder.

** Please read the Electronic Filing of Forms and Welcome to Marching Band letters BEFORE starting your forms. If you need assistance with these forms prior to Registration please em ail Toni at tldechert@yahoo.com for assistance.

**Please access these forms from a computer, we realized that they will not work on your phone. Please be patient with this new process as we are trying to streamline the process for the person who collects forms.

There will also be many parents volunteering at Registration to help you get them uploaded if you cannot do so before.  *Parents who are volunteering at Registration:  MB registration volunteer meeting will be at 6:15 pm on Tuesday 4/23 in the commons area right before registration begins. Thank you! We couldn't do it without you and for continuing to support the kids.

**We strongly encourage you to get everything filled out and uploaded before Registration, then all we need to do is collect the Physical from you when it is completed. *REMEMBER any Physical for this year cannot be completed before April 15th per District Guidelines!!

**If you still need  to create a Charms account (new to marching band), you can find instructions on our  website , following the instructions for "First Time Logging In". If you already have a Charms account but can't remember a username or password, please reach out to Beth Stockdale,  bstockdale812@comcast.net or Mo Seifert, Mokickituproms@yahoo.com. Either of these ladies can help you with a user name or resetting a password. We ask that if you already have an account, please do not create a new one when you can't remember the login details. We can help with that & multiple accounts for 1 student causes problems within the program.

** Please log into your Charms account and update anything needed. Please make sure that you do this before Registration on April 23rd.  All MB members are required to have all information in Charms completed before Registration. PLEASE make sure you include phone numbers AND personal email addresses for both parents and students. Remember WLCSD (school emails given by the district) WILL NOT work with Charms and will be kicked back, and you will not get important information throughout the year. If you do not know your Charms log in information please contact Beth Stockdale, bstockdale812@comcast.net or Mo Seifert at Mokickituproms@yahoo.com.
