What’s up with those violet trash bags appearing around Austin?

The trash lining Austin underpasses and streets is nothing new, but one solution to the problem is painting the town violet. The City of Austin Service Design Lab, in collaboration with Austin Resource Recovery, Public Works and additional municipal departments, launched the Violet Bag Program. This six-week program aims to address the issue of litter by providing trash bags and collection services to individuals experiencing homelessness.
