Tallgrass Prairie and Oak Savanna
Fire Science Consortium Launched
The Tallgrass Prairie and Oak Savanna Fire Science Consortium (TPOS) is a new regional organization that will improve fire science delivery and knowledge exchange in the midwestern United States. Created with funding from the Joint Fire Science Program (JFSP), TPOS will consolidate information and create a network through which the regional fire community can share knowledge and ideas.
TPOS is among six additional regional consortia recently added by JFSP. The goal of the regional fire science consortia is to accelerate the awareness, understanding, and adoption of fire science information within ecologically similar regions.
3 new regional consortia have been added in the central U.S.

Survey Results Reveal Top Regional Fire Issues
TPOS performed a survey of fire practioners and researchers to identify issues and information gaps in our region. The results show differing priorities between the two groups, as well as areas of agreement on topics where information is lacking. We will use these findings to prioritize the subjects our Consortium addresses. See the results at http://www.tposfirescience.org/topics/
