Catholic Jews and the Feast of St. Esther
A combination of history and shiur about Marrano rituals based on themes of reversal, masking, unmasking and laughter in Megillat Esther
 
Dr. Julie Goldstein is the Rosh Midrasha/Director of Amudim, a new Shana baAretz program for women designed to engage them with Jewish texts in the fullest possible way, from both traditional and academic perspectives, where no question or source is off the table and students are encouraged to think for themselves.

Dr. Goldstein's teaching experience includes three years at the undergraduate level at NYU, fifteen years at Ma’ayanot High School, three years as a JLIC scholar-in-residence at UCLA, and nearly two decades of Jewish communal and adult education lectures. Dr. Goldstein received an MA in Jewish philosophy at YU and a joint PhD in medieval history and Judaic Studies at NYU. In 2013-14, she was a Golda Meir postdoctoral fellow at The Hebrew University and a research fellow at The Global Research Institute at Tel Aviv University.

Dr. Goldstein has received a number of awards, including fellowships from Cardozo’s Center for Jewish Law and Civilization and The Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture. She recently made aliyah and lives in Beit Shemesh with her husband, Rabbi Uri Goldstein, the former Rabbi of Ahavat Achim in Fair Lawn, and five children.

 
Dr. Goldstein will speak after kiddush.

 Purim Costume Gmach

Looking for a Purim costume, but don't want to waste the money on something you won’t use again? Visit our costume Gmach, all costumes are free to borrow. $5 donation requested but not required.

 The Gmach will be open at Keter Torah (600 Roemer Ave) on February 26 (11:30am-1pm) and March 5 (3pm-4:30pm).

Feel free to stop in. The gmach is in memory of Farvish Hirsch Ben Shmuel Lev.

Annual Teaneck Yom Hashoa Event

The Holocaust Commemoration Committee of the Jewish Community Council of Greater Teaneck invites you to Survivors and Survival, a special observance of Yom Hashoa, Holocaust Memorial Day, on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 7:30 PM at Teaneck High School. There will be a pre-event reception honoring the survivors in our community, marking the seventy-eighth anniversary of the start of the Shoa. Congregation Netivot Shalom is a proud co-sponsor of this annual event. 
 
As in previous years, names of those who perished in the Holocaust will be read aloud. To be a sponsor and to ensure that your memorial names will be read that evening and printed in the remembrance booklet, please submit the form that was sent via email with your contribution of $25 or more by March 6, 2017.For more information, visit our website at www.teaneckyomhashoa.org.
