Policies and Practices for Our Youth Groups
We are blessed to have a significantly larger number of children in our shul than we have had in the past.  With those larger numbers, the youth committee has taken several steps to ensure an enjoyable, meaningful and safe shul experience for our children.  We are very excited to have so many children in the shul and have planned a full morning of programming for them. Please help us ensure that your children are safe and participate in our shabbat programs by encouraging your children to stay in groups or sit quietly with you in shul.

1.  Groups take place in the multipurpose room and on the second floor. The breakdown of the youth groups is as follows:
  • Ground floor on the Palisade Avenue side of the room - Nursery (0-3) without parents
  • Ground floor in the middle of the room - Nursery (0-3) with parents
  • Ground floor on the side of the room closest to the kitchen - PreK to Kindergarten
  • Second floor - 1st through 5th grade girls, 1st through 3rd grade boys and 4th through 6th grade boys.

We know many of you like to check on your children, however, it can be very distracting to youth leaders and confusing to other children. If you wish to stay more than just to drop off your child, please do so only with the 0-3 group in the middle of the room; and not stand near either the 0-3 group in the back, or the PreK-K in the front.  We are happy to work with you in transitioning your child/ren from one group to another. We ask that adults not hang out in the kiddush room during groups except as part of the 0-3 group in the middle.

2.  We have developed a new curriculum for each of our Tot Shabbat programs as well as for tefilla in the older groups.  As part of that, we are proud to the introduce the use of the Koren Children's Siddur and the Koren Youth Siddur.  We thank the following families for their generous donation and dedication of these siddurim:

The Sponder Family
The Heller Family
The Goldberger Family
The Schwartz / Berger Family
The Lebovitch Family
The Kaplan (Yoel and Sarah) Family
The Braverman / Fried Family
The Bernstein (Josh and Rachel) Family
The Moskovits (Leah and Alex) Family
The Blum / Rindner Family
The Fass Family

Thank you to Doni Moskovits for his help with this project.

3. We ask your cooperation to help prevent children from running back and forth from groups to the lobby or shul. It is a small building and it can be very challenging to the group leaders, the youth director and members of the youth committee. We try to create a welcoming environment for children and parents alike and have created a comfortable place for children in the sanctuary itself, but we ask that children (except in cases of great need) either stay in the sanctuary with a parent or with their group and not be in the lobby or coat room.

4.  Children will not be permitted to leave the building without a parent or a group leader.  If you are in the lobby area and you see unaccompanied children heading out the door, please remember that they are not permitted to exit the building and your assistance in assuring that this rule is followed helps keep everyone safe.

5. Please meet your child promptly once shul is over.

Thank you!
