Winter News From Eagle Eye
It's hard to believe we're halfway through the winter already. Here at Eagle Eye, we've been working hard to build new partnerships and plan for spring and summer programs. Hibernation is for skunks and bears!
Fall 2016 Newsletter
Last year was our first year based full-time on our land in Peru. Though we were sad to leave our Somerville/Boston friends, we are excited to build our capacity for programming and events in Western Mass. See what we were up to last year in our fall newsletter: http://eagleeyei.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/EEI-Print-Newsletter-2016.compressed.pdf
Program Update
Seven high school youth and two staff from the Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School (PFSJ) in Holyoke joined Eagle Eye for a snowshoe program on January 19 as part of a three-day outdoor exploration program led by former Eagle Eye staff and board member Kira Jewett. Kira is Head of the Science Department at the school and makes getting youth outdoors a top priority. We are working to build a long-term partnership with PFSJ to get more young people learning and having fun in nature!
Spring Open House
Eagle Eye will hold a Spring Open House on Sunday, May 21, 11 am-3 pm at MountainStar Forest in Peru. We welcome potential partners and individuals who are interested in getting involved with Eagle Eye as instructors, volunteers or interns. Come take a walking tour of the property, enjoy a vegan lunch, play games, and learn more about Eagle Eye.
Save the Date!
The 2nd Annual Alumni Gathering is scheduled for the weekend of July 22-23 at MountainStar Forest in Peru. We encourage folks who have been a part of Eagle Eye across the decades to return to the land and reconnect to the spirit of the work and each other. Past youth participants, instructors, volunteers, interns, staff and supporters are invited for a fun and relaxing retreat in nature. Space is limited to 30 people overnight, so please register early by emailing nature@eagleeyei.org. See you there!
