CPBR Member Survey: We Want Your Opinion

As most of you know, CPBR meets every other month. Three meetings of our meetings are Education Meetings where members attend our membership meeting, followed by a 4 credit class for a reasonable fee. In addition, three meetings a year are Speaker Meetings where there is a membership meeting followed by a 20-30 minute speaker presentation. We are tossing around ideas for future speaker meetings and have come up with several topics. We want your two cents. Please take a moment to complete and submit our quick survey to help us plan meetings that cover the topics that interest you! Please submit surveys by MARCH 15. Thank you!

Sammy Pierce Scholarship

CPBR is pleased to announce that funds for two $1,000 scholarships are available to be awarded again this year to qualifying students. The Sammy Pierce Memorial Scholarship highlighting volunteerism, was created by CPBR to honor the memory of our fellow Realtor®, Sammy Pierce, who died in a tragic motorcycle accident. RPAC – An Investment in YOUR Future
Thanks to every one who has donated so far. We are currently at 66.7 % participation with our goal of 85%. That means 48 out of 72 Realtors® have donated so far. Last year we came close to 70% and we hope to do better this year. This is the best $25 you can spend on your career. Your RPAC investment is a non-partisan investment and has helped with key issues such as:
  • The continued preservation of the mortgage interest deduction
  • $8,000 First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit to stimulate the real estate market
  • Improving federal mortgage programs, allowing more families to join the ranks of home ownership

Please consider a donation so we can continue to protect Realtor's interests. This is a business decision not a political one!

If you have any questions about RPAC, please contact Kevin Barnes at

Kevin Barnes Named CPBR Government Affairs Committee Director

Kevin Barnes has been selected to serve as CPBR's Government Affairs Director. In this position, Kevin will provide a voice for CPBR members on the Vermont Realtors® Government Affairs Committee. This committee oversees RPAC investments and monitors key legislative issued during the Vermont legislative session.

A Report from Kevin
I had my first VR Government Affairs Committee meeting on March 13. The committee discussed two key bills of concern to Realtors® in our state. One bill explores mandatory well test, and the other bill focuses on home energy certification. Both bills are in the early stages. I will keep our members informed about these bills and any other legislation of concern. If you have any questions or would like for me to address a certain topic with the state Government Affairs Committee, please feel free to contact me at
