VR To Meet With Gov. Scott
By Patrick McLaughlin, CPBR Government Affairs Director

The VR Directors will be meeting with Vermont Governor Phil Scott in the next of couple weeks and will have the opportunity to discuss a limited range of prioritized topics. This year's top legislative priorities will likely focus on lowering real estate taxes, growing the economy and on education finance reform.

The Vermont legislative session began on Jan 4, with hot topic discussions focusing on school choice and Act 154 (clean-up of Lake Champlain).

From the President

Dear Members of the Crown Point Board of Realtors®,

It is with great pleasure that I assume the role of President of the Crown Point Board of Realtors® for 2017. Having been a member for twelve years, I've enjoyed acting previously as a director, state director, and president in 2007. I feel giving back, by involvement, is critical! I am convinced that our organization does much more than most realize. My presidency now affords me the satisfaction of working with new members, as well as those who have been serving for many years.

CPBR partners with Vermont Realtors® (VR) and the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) to keep us informed in an industry that is constantly changing. Previous board members have done an outstanding job streamlining meetings, understanding that members' time is precious. Meetings are coupled with a credited class at a reduced rate or a speaker relevant to our industry.

I urge each of you to get involved and to stay current. Greet and encourage your colleagues as we meet. Be active in the ongoing charitable work sponsored by this organization. Support RPAC and have a voice in the future. Know and recommend our affiliates, refer to the PDF on crownpointrealtors.com. Print it for your clients and support those who support our board.

Enjoy the benefits of our VR relationship through a complimentary subscription to Inman News, premium Dotloop subscription and now a bi-monthly Vermont Property Owners Report (VPOR), which will has likely arrived in your mailboxes by now. Also, NAR has saved Realtors® a combined $59 million on products and services through the Realtor® Benefits® Program in the past year. Visit realtor.org and become familiar with member benefits.

Our board is part of a much larger picture. We belong to the nation’s largest trade organization that is over 800,000 members strong. It is an exciting time to be in this business and I look forward to serving as your president this year.

I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2017!

Sincerely,
Susan LeCours

CPBR Helping Bring People Together

Last year, CPBR received funding from the National Association of Realtors® for a Placemaker Grant to help support the improvement of Cavendish Park.

CPBR is currently seeking ideas for a 2017 Placemaker Grant to help support additional work in our communities. The grants aim to support projects that bring communities together. There may also be opportunities to partner with other organizations to support a larger community project.

If you have ideas for this year's grant, please contact Kevin Barnes at kevin@vtprop.com. Grants of up to $2,500 are available.

CPBR Making A Difference

We received a thank you note from Anne & Bernie Gottier who are recipients of a donation from CPBR after a fire destroyed their home. The Gottiers are one of three area families that CPBR was able to help this year with funds raised at our Golf Tournament.

Our holiday event raised enough funds to enable donations to four area foodbanks, including: Chester/Andover Family Center; Black River Good Neighbors; Our Place Drop in Center in Bellows Falls; and Springfield Family Center.
