We've designed adult classes at Dance 1 to be convenient for you. You can drop into any class, but for the most value, we offer punch cards. Your punch card allows you to come to any class, any time! Feeling jazzy one week and cardio barre-ish the next? No problem! And your card never expires.

Punch cards: 8 classes for $125 and 20 classes for $300 (~$15 per class)
Drop in: $20 per class
No need to preregister...Just come 15 minutes early if you're a new student.

The Snow Queen Returns

Dance 1 is proud to announce the return of Redondo Ballet's The Snow Queen.

Saturday, Feb 18th

The Snow Queen is the story of two friends who find themselves separated by the icy Snow Queen. While one is held captive, the other goes on a fantastical search for her friend where she will soar with the Northern Lights and encounter great creatures at Ocean’s Depth, and more! But beware, a marauding band of pirates are on the hunt for treasure.

The community is invited to experience this enchanted story of a frozen winter wonderland with magical creatures and fantastical lands. A great ballet experience for the whole family!

Girl Scout Special: The Girl Scout experience includes an exclusive, onstage encounter with the dancers, as well as a fun workshop that teaches the troops choreography from the ballet. Daisies, Brownies and Juniors are all welcome! Brownies will earn their Dancer Badge, and all participants will receive a fun patch. Special pricing for Scouts and Leaders. Follows the 3:00 show. Ticket information coming soon.

Thoughts from Backstage

I had the privilege of being backstage during the winter showcase this year, which means I've been on both sides of the curtain. I'm not sure which side I enjoy more. In the audience, I am entertained with music that ranges from fun and edgy to beautiful and emotional. And then there's the engaging choreography that lends the visual interpretation. I enjoy seeing the dancers pushing themselves, proud of themselves, and enjoying themselves.

But backstage is a different experience all together. Before the show started, one young dancer confided that this was only her second show and she was nervous. I watched her from backstage, hoping she could feel my smile, as she tried her very best, accomplishing what many adults wouldn't even dream of doing. From backstage you see the support of these dancers all around. From the visual and spoken cues, to the encouraging words, to the hand holding (only when needed). Stage parents encouraging throughout the dance. Senior dancers high-fiving as the dancers exit stage right.

And I think, "Yes, this is why I chose Dance 1."

Starbound Competition

Dance 1's Performing Company and Redondo Ballet will be competing at Starbound Talent Competition January 20-22. Dance 1 did well last year with numerous awards, but this isn't what sets us apart at competition. It is a place where people take notice of Dance 1 as being different from other dance studios. We respect our dancers with our choice of costume, music and choreography. And we have the best cheering section around!

Bun Buddies

Come learn the art of making a perfect ballet bun! Whether you're new to ballet or just need to practice, learn the tips and techniques from our senior dancers.

Can't make it? Our bun tutorials are always online.

Make-Up Policy

If your dancer unexpectedly misses class, anyone in the family can use the make-up within 8 weeks. After 8 weeks the make-up is lost. Our full policy can be found here.

Winter show portraits are in. If you ordered portraits and have not yet picked them up, please see the front desk.

Drop your kids off Saturday, Jan 21st at Dance 1 and enjoy some much needed time off. Your children will be entertained with games, movies, snacks, dress up, and DANCING! What will you do?
