OMAHA: Biomedical Discussion Group - CANCELLED!

The Autism Society’s Biomedical Parents Support Group is an informal discussion of biomedical interventions into autism spectrum disorders. All biomedical questions and topics are welcome. No medical advice here: Just parents sharing experiences in the hope they are useful to other families.

The group usually meets the 3rd Thursday of the month at Whole Foods in their Lifestyle Center. Whole Foods is located just south of the Westroads mall at Regency and Dodge.  The next meeting will the Thursday, September 20th.

OMAHA: Future Horizon's Autism/Asperger Conference

Future Horizons was created to meet the needs of teachers, therapists, and family members who face the challenge of autism.  Their books, videos, and conferences are geared to bringing you the most current information possible to assist in that challenge. Registration is at the Lion’s Den in Cedar Bluffs, NE on Aug. 18, 2012 between 10:00-11:30 am. The ride will be through Wahoo, Memphis, Louisville, Gretna, Yutan and back to Cedar Bluffs.

100% of all the proceeds go to the Autism Family Network in Lincoln, Nebraska.

OMAHA: ASD Family Swim Party and Outdoor showing of Mr. Popper's Penguins

Friday, August 24th 9pm - midnight

Join us as we celebrate the end of summer and start of the new school year!   We will have the pool to ourselves as well as a poolside movie screen where we can watch Mr. Popper's Penguins while we splash and swim!  Be sure and bring your own personal floation raft so that you can kick up your heels and relax!

LINCOLN:  NWA Special Needs Fishing

Holmes Lake – Shelter #3

This is a special clinic for special youth and young adults that need a smaller and more hands on experience at fishing. The Nebraska Walleye Association puts these clinics on all over the state of Nebraska. This year we are partnering with O.N.E. Coalition. We’ve made this clinic smaller in size to give special youth and young adults a chance to tryout fishing. No rods or reels are needed. We will provide a short lunch, instructional training (about 1 hour), fishing gear, bait and assistance with fishing. All that you need are your children and a lawn chair. Brothers and sisters are welcome but please sign them up at the same time. We will check the kids in starting at 11:30 AM at Holmes Lake.

ASD Drama Classes at The Rose

The Rose Theater, in partnership with the Autism Society of Nebraska, is offering two Saturday classes for children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Bellevue TOPSoccer

Bellevue TOPSoccer for players with special needs is registering for the Fall 2012 season NOW.  Registrations turned in by August 20, 2012 are only $20!

BSC TOPSoccer is for children (starting at age 4), teens, and young adults with special needs.  They have players from all over the Omaha Metro, Sarpy County, Cass County and Council Bluffs.
