“I had a job...” Eric said, "but a lot of bad decisions left my life spinning out of control. It got so bad, I knew I had to get help. . . and I went to Sun Street Centers.”
It is thanks to you that families around
Monterey County are reunited for the holidays.
We are so thankful for your continued love and support of our work at Sun Street Centers.  The following updates and stories have been made possible by your help and generosity.
The Salinas Prevention Department in conjunction with the Natividad Trauma Center and North Salinas High School are working on a “In One Instant” campaign. This campaign promotes awareness about safe driving among teens and empowers them to make smart choices.
Did You Know?

Each year on average, more than 10,000 people die on the road due to drunk driving. (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)

Nearly 2 million injury crashes were reported in the U.S. in 2010 involving distracted driving. (Pew Research Center)
The average time drivers take their eyes off the road to send or read a text is 5 seconds.  A driver going 55mph will have traveled the length of a football field—completely blind.
STEPS in Action
Empowering youth leaders in the community to work together and
advocate for a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.
“I’m happy to have my son in STEPS because he’s learning to be more open and talking to me about STEPS activities.  I recommend all parents who have children to take their teens to STEPS.  I see a big difference in my son after the second day he attended.” -STEPS Parent
Finding Family in Recovery
"From a person of low income this scholarship will help me pay off my program, a program that has helped me and taught me how to maintain sober without drinking and using drugs.  Men's Residential means a change of life for me.  I have learned how to live a life free from alcohol and drugs.  I feel like I have found a second family that values and supports me in my recovery." - Julio
"The scholarship meant a lot to me.  Sun Street Centers gave me so much in my recovery.  Since this was my home for five months, I treated it like my home.  The gardening, the painting, anything I could do, I did it out of love.  I know this place is sacred ground. I know a lot of men have gone through here for various reasons and I wanted to leave an imprint.  That’s why I planted trees that will be here for years to come." - Brent
The Anne C. Leach Scholarship was created for men who do not have the financial means to enter and attend the program, but have the sincere desire to recover, heal and thrive.
