This Week in Publishing

Welcome to TFP's weekly roundup of interesting and noteworthy stories from the publishing world. This week, we're discussing Lean Back 2.0's new Digital Disruptors video series, five responsive design articles you should be reading, Apple's market share, and more.

publishing industry highlights of the week:

  • The Economist's Group's digital publishing blog, Lean Back 2.0, rolled out the first video in its new Digital Disruptors series. Digital Disruptors will deliver interviews with industry leaders and innovators, discussing how digital publishing, e-readers, and tablets are changing the publishing industry.
  • With what seems like a constant stream of studies about tablet and smart phone adoption and market share, it can be hard to keep up. This Apple by the Numbers infographic provides a streamlined visual summary of the company's standing. For the record, the iPad has a 62% market share, 600,000 available apps, and 895 new apps being added every day.
  • Curation is a big focus in the publishing world currently. Rob O'Regan offers three tactics for an evolving curation strategy and outlines why curation
    is important.
  • E-books, community, and libraries are all part of Stephen S. Power's strategy for publishers who want to avoid extinction.
