This week our roundup of interesting and noteworthy publishing industry stories covers the value of contracts with publishers producing Facebook Live videos, Bloomberg’s success with cross-platform ad sales, a recent study on how media companies are adapting in the platform age, how publishers are getting at least some value from ad blocker users, and more.
Facebook’s deals with 140 media outlets and celebrities to create content for its live-streaming service total $50 million to date, a report says.

Bloomberg is retraining its ad sales force to sell cross-platform instead of having dedicated teams for each channel. And the results are good: Its overall ad sales are up 11% since the start of the year.

A study on platform publishing surfaced a number of concerns, including the big question of who owns the reader or viewer—the platform or the publisher?

Asking users to provide their email addresses is one way publishers are trying to get at least some value from readers who don’t want to pay for content.
