Welcome! This week our roundup of interesting and noteworthy publishing industry stories focuses on Atlantic Media's Defense One digital-only trade publication, how Consumer Reports plans to remain the most-trusted product review source in the digital world, whether publishers can be platforms at the same time, Meredith's Allrecipes print success, and more.
Atlantic Media's Defense One news site for the national defense industry is seeing steady growth, taking the path of Quartz, Atlantic's digital-only business news site, according to Digiday. It's increasing its readership in part by focusing on mobile, which now accounts for about 30% of its traffic.

Consumer Reports let Vox inside its testing facilities to see how it puts products through their paces and laid out how it intends to remain the go-to resource for unbiased reviews in the crowded digital world.

Harvard Business Review asked: Can publishers do tech and content at the same time? It argued that few are likely to succeed at a hybrid model, since each has different goals.

Meredith's Allrecipes print magazine announced its rate base has jumped to 1.1 million, a 120% increase since its 2013 launch. Editor in Chief Cheryl Brown attributed the success to listening to readers' feedback and continually making adjustments based on that.
