A Message! from our librarian

A note from Sally Ainsworth, Acting County Librarian

  • YAY! Our county has been awarded a $500,000 grant from The McConnell Foundation of Shasta County. We are so excited to have been awarded this money and are so grateful to the McConnell Board. They understand the importance of our new library, and feel the passion that we have for this project. We are moving forward with planning the new library and hope our community will support our fundraising efforts over the next year. Our community needs to have an amazing library and are going to work hard to make sure that it happens. If you want to help with our fundraising efforts, please contact the library.
  • Summer reading is heading into the second half and we are having a ball here at the library. These next three weeks will be full of amazing guest – Ron Brown will come to sing and play with our children, and Chris Bentz, a local magician, will make an appearance. He has some tricks that you will not believe. All of the children are working on their reading logs to make sure they receive a pizza certificate from Round Table or an ice cream cone from Scoops. Thank you to Round Table and Scoops for your generosity this summer.
  • The Junior Giants season is underway and librarian Sally Ainsworth helps run the “Reading around the Bases” component for the program. We are always in need of children’s books to give out to the kids that participate in Junior Giants. If you have some books you would like to give to this program, please bring them to the library for Sally to give to the kids. Thank you in advance for your donation.
