Battery Article

This article from the Australian Academy of Science explains what exactly a battery is and how it works, as well as the invention of something that we use every single day. Included is a TED-Ed video and links to other informative articles about batteries. 
Lemon Battery

This video from the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth explains how you can make a battery from a lemon. The electrolytes in the lemon (pictured above) produce a voltage that can be used as a battery.

Potato Battery

Follow the procedure linked above to create a potato battery similarly to the lemon battery. It might be fun to have some youth make the lemon battery and some make the potato battery and compare the voltages and currents of each! This VIDEO explains why one may work better than the other.
