Click on the photo above for a lesson from NSTA on the Northern Lights, also called Aurora Borealis. 

As an alternative to reading articles, students could research in groups or watch YouTube videos about Aurora Borealis. While the vectors portion of this lesson may be too advanced, predicting the next Northern Lights phenomenon would be a great way to apply what they've learned from their research. The Design Project towards the end of this lesson presents a fun way for students to showcase their knowledge, too!
