iNaturalist

iNaturalist allows you to identify creatures or plants that you find outside by recording what you see and sharing with a community of individuals on the app. Basically, species knowledge is crowdsourced to help you figure out what you want to know. Another great thing about this app is that every observation you share is integrated into a biodiversity data collection--your seemingly small contribution could help a scientist with their research!

Cost: Free
Available on iOS and Android
Tappity

Tappity's mission is to "Inspire curiosity for a lifelong pursuit of knowledge." The app is aimed towards children ages 4-10 and offers active learning lessons with subjects from gardening to animal science to outer space. New lessons are added every week.

Cost: Free for first 30 lessons
Available on iOS and on the web
Hopscotch

Created by educators and scientists, Hopscotch is a coding app that teaches beginner coding and also offers an easy transition from the simpler ScratchJr. coding. Their website offers free lesson plans for educators, too!
