The Fall Stats Trend Continues...
Before we transition into Winter, let's compare the stats from the end of this October to 2016 conditions. Both single family homes and attached dwellings continue to trend slightly higher than last year. The median price of a single family home in Boulder County is $560,000, up 5.1% from last year. Condos and townhomes are selling for a median price of $360,000, up 3.7%. CLICK HERE to read the October Stats.
Why is Fall the Best Time to Buy a Home on a Budget?
Because "in the Fall, the types of homes that sell are smaller for people without kids. So they tend to be less expensive." This article in Realtor.com goes on to say that people with families often want to move before the school year starts, so there's less competition this time of year which is great news for those of you who became frustrated with frequently being outbid earlier this year. Therefore, consider purchasing a home now as the buying atmosphere is definitely more relaxed.
Who are the Happiest People in America?
The question: "Who are the happiest Americans?" was posed by writer George Stone in his recent article in National Geographic. His conclusion probably won't surprise you, especially if you live in Boulder County. The #1 city in America is Boulder, Colorado. "In the cities where the locals smile and laugh more often, socialize several hours a day, have access to green spaces, and feel that they are making purposeful progress toward achieving life goals" people are the happiest. He goes on to explain that, "For our index, it tracked factors that are statistically associated with doing well and feeling well; these include feeling secure, taking vacations, and having enough money to cover basic needs." I have to say I agree with him, and feel happy and grateful to live here. How about you?
A Centerpiece for Thanksgiving and Beyond
Getting ready for Turkey Day is a lot of work, and as much as I enjoy the festive decorations, I love the idea of something I can use for more than one holiday. Houzz has the solution for us this year with this idea: a centerpiece that you can use for Thanksgiving, and then modify for the upcoming winter holidays as well. I'd love it if you'd snap a photo and send it to me if you end up trying it out! Happy Thanksgiving!
