Alpha Kappa Psi entered in a competition with a theme that aligned with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Platform. AKΨ decided to pursue a project that we had been working on for the past year and a half called "H2OFlow". H2OFlow is an innovative and interactive solution to tracking real-time water usage per water outlet to help pinpoint the responsibility of water wastage per household. This project had originally been created for the Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge (SVIC) in response to the severe drought that the state of California had been facing at the time.

After they won SVIC, AKΨ received $1000 in seed funding from the Paseo Prototyping competition in which we created a mock application and an actual prototype of our device which landed them 2nd place overall. For this competition, AKΨ had to create a viral video (see below) and turn in an executive summary for the first round of the competition. After the first round, 4 teams were selected to present at the opening ceremony of our West Coast Alpha Kappa Psi Conference in front of 200+ people. Additionally, AKΨ gave a 15 minute presentation and turned in a viable business plan for our final submission.

At the closing ceremony, AKΨ won the entire competition for our chapter for the first time ever in our chapters existence, beating out schools who had been dominating for the last five years.

On Tuesday, March 20th from 1pm-3pm, Associated Students in collaboration with the UndocuSpartan Resource Center will be hosting a Rapid Response Training. Please RSVP at the following link

All are welcomed!

Purpose of the training (per website): The Rapid Response Network aims to expand the community's capacity to monitor and document ICE operations in real time. We will support the process of gathering evidence used to free someone from ICE custody. We will expose  any intimidating and unconstitutional tactics ICE uses to detain immigrants.

Come learn how you can be a rapid responder so that we can respond to calls from community members concerned about immediate ICE actions throughout Santa Clara County.
