DECEMBER PERFORMING ARTS SERIES

This University of Dubuque tradition returns to bring spiritual meaning to your Christmas season. UD's Department of Fine and Performing Arts celebrates the birth of Christ through a concert presentation featuring the John and Alice Butler Pipe Organ and UD choirs, concert band, and string ensemble with live narration. Complimentary holiday refreshments and live music from UD's jazz band will immediately follow the concert.

Adapted and directed by Clayton Phillips and based on the novel by Charles Dickens, this adaptation of the ever-popular classic fills the stage with a cast of 16 professional actors, lush costumes, stunning sets and puppetry, song and dance, a heavy dose of humor, and a timeless message. Phillips' award-winning directorial credits include directing Kiss of the Spider Woman, Cabaret, and Chicago.

Twenty-six beloved traditional carols of the season are woven throughout this original production of A Christmas Carol, accompanied by live instruments onstage including guitar, violin, and flute. New Hampshire-based Perseverance Productions has been spreading cheer across the country with this annual holiday tour. According to the company's website, "As the British writer Samuel Johnson wrote, 'Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance.'"

Free pre-show activities include a Bisignano Art Gallery lecture and reception at 6:00 p.m. and Tuba Christmas at 6:30 p.m.

HOLIDAY HOURS AND SPECIALS

The Farber Box Office will close for the holidays on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. thru Monday, January 2, 2023. Regular box office hours of Monday - Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 90 minutes prior to events will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

During the closure, double points will be awarded for the Heritage Performing Arts Loyalty System (H-PALS). For every dollar spent, H-PALS members will earn two points instead of one on online ticket purchases. When patrons reach 200 points, they receive one free ticket (valued up to $50) for an eligible event of their choice.
