Fun news to share with you!

Faerie Tales Cat Rescue

What makes our group different?

We have a group of uniquely minded volunteers. That's what.

Many of our volunteers have a holistic mind set. What does this mean for you?  When adopting from our group, you are getting a rescue cat whose personality and needs are being cared for. For example, many of us use something called Flower Essences. You may have seen this topic in our newsletter about natural flea preventatives. Bach's Rescue Remedy and Green Hope Farms Flower Essences are two companies that our group uses on a regular basis. During our adoption events, you will often see our volunteer using flower essence drops called "Anxiety" to help calm the nerves of our kitties. We have found this essence to also be helpful in taming down semi feral kittens or aiding with calming nerves when a new foster cat is introduced to a household. And just this week, our volunteer, Sharon, recommended to a person who was in a position to have to give up her cat, to try the Anxiety flower essence, for by treating the person, we also benefit the animal. We have found a flower essence called "New Beginnings" to aid with all the animals (people too!) in a household be more open when new animals are introduced to the house. You can read more about these essences here. http://greenhopeessences.com/

Did you know that we are a partner with Best Friends Animal Society?

Our group is committed to a No More Homeless Pets mission. Best Friends is a world reknown animal sanctuary located in Utah.  As part of our shared mission with Best Friends, we have joined their Back in Black special event! In honor of this special event, from Aug 15- Sept 17th, all black cat adoptions will be discounted by 50% off our regular adoption prices. Why are we participating in this event? Did you know that black cats are the most overlooked cats in shelters? And that from an entire litter of kittens, the black ones are the LAST to be adopted and therefore often stay with our group long into adulthood? WHY YOU SHOULD ADOPT A BLACK KITTY
Why Black?

Black is slimming…Black is elegant…Black is sophisticated…Black is the color of power and authority…Black is considered stylish and timeless…Black kitty hairs won’t show up on that perfect little black dress !

Did You Know?

Black cats are considered good luck in England, Japan, and Australia!
• Some believe a bride will have luck on her big day if a black cat sneezes near her!
• In Scotland, finding a black cat on your porch is a sign of riches and happiness to come!
• Some believe stroking the fur of black cats brings health and wealth!
• Having a black cat enter your home is also thought to bring good luck!

Why You Should Consider Adopting A Black Cat:

Black cats tend to be the most overlooked in shelters. They are statistically-proven to be more difficult to adopt from shelter locations, despite being sweet, friendly, affectionate and well-adjusted like their more colorful counterparts. Remember black cats are the same as any felines – lovable, affectionate companions that give years of unconditional love and friendship

What have we been up to?

Adoptions! Perhaps you remember the litter of bottle fed kittens that were featured in our previous newsletter? We are delighted to tell you that they have both been adopted! Waterloo and Courage will be living the high life in Illinois! Here is what their new family has to say, "I wanted to thank you again for entrusting us with these very special little boys.  They are full of love and joy, and we promise to smother them with love with and exceptional care every day!"

Anya has been our "Featured Cat" online and we are also happy to share with you that she went to her forever home this month as well! Anya was born in foster care and although it has taken some time to find the right home for her, her foster home was not giving up on this possibility! Anya's faerie tale ending is now taking place in Mt. Pleasant where she will live happily ever after!

Merlin has been adopted too! Merlin and sister Chloe (who is still available for adoption) are brand new kitties to our rescue group since the last newsletter. Merlin and Chloe's names were chosen by their foster mom (a new foster home to us too!) and Merlin's magic powers have been hard at work conjuring up his forever family dream. Merlin will be happily romping around with an existing playful cat in his new home in West Bloomfield! Here is what his adopters have to say about him: "Merlin is doing great :) We're working on renaming him Hobbes like the tiger from the comic book Calvin and Hobbes. Anyway, He's SOOO playful. We love it :) "  ""

Could she be the "Spice" of your life? We sure hope so!
Hi my name is Spice. I can't wait to find a forever home. I was living outside in a very dangerous area. There were coyotes and lots of cars. I was really scared, cold and hungry but now I have lots of food and a safe place to stay. I love when my foster mom spends time with me. We have so much fun when we play. I also love it when she pets me. Sometimes I get so excited that I give her nibbles. I am learning to be gentle but my mom thinks it might be best if I went to a home that didn't have small children.
