Today Thorsten Eugene Carlson is 1 month old!

Our sweet son was born on January 9, 2018.  He was 8 lbs 5 oz and 21 inches long.  He and his family are happy healthy and adjusting to life in the real world.

At his 1 month check-up Thorsten was already 23 inches long and 12 lbs 2 oz.

We are so thankful for all the ways you have shown us support as we have worked to get Thorsten adjusted to the world, your thoughts and prayers, the gifts, the texts, emails and phone calls, and of course the wonderful food that some of you have brought to us.

Thorsten, whether he knows it or not, is looking forward to meeting all of you that have already loved him.

Hop aboard the Meal Train!!

Pastors Carlson have their hands with Cora and Baby Boy.  Let’s help them out by crossing one stress off of their list: dinner.  If you can help by making a meal one day (or several), please email Shannon Babcock at and she will send you the link to sign up to bring a meal.  All the information you will need will be on the Meal Train site.  If you know of someone who’d like to help but does not have internet access, please have them call Shannon at (805) 602-1759 and she will plug them in!
Thank you!!

DRESSING UP for Mutual Ministry at Mt Carmel

What comes to mind when you hear the term, “dressing up”? I first think of children who clomp around the house in their parent’s shoes, or wear big coats and hats to make themselves feel bigger and older. Then I think of children dressing up as their favorite super hero or some other imaginary character they want to emulate.
How about us? How do we “dress up”?  What do we put on and who do we want to emulate? The  apostle Paul gives some instructions for dressing up to the Colossian Christians and to us.  “As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:12-15
How will we dress up this week? Will we put on love and emulate Christ?  Let’s pray together that we follow Paul’s guidelines in dressing up for the mutual ministry at Mt Carmel.
