SUNSET DRIVE RESIDENTS AND CHARTER SCHOOL TO FACE OFF AT THURSDAY ZONING HEARING

A hearing to determine the fate of a proposed charter school on Sunset Drive and 73rd Avenue is set to take place at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 20 at the Miami-Dade County Commission Chambers, 111 NW 1st St. Somerset Academy, a charter school with several locations throughout South Florida, hopes to overturn a 1997 zoning resolution limiting the usage of a 19-acre parcel of land owned by Christ Journey Church. JUST MOVE!!

Moving your body daily, even for short durations, is one of the most important habits one can create in order to maintain good health. Truthfully, every time you workout doesn’t have to be an ultra-intense test of will…or, shall we say, an “exercise” in torture! Especially for those short on time, brief periods of physical activity throughout the day are the ideal supplement to the occasional high-intensity workouts. Everyone should make time to Read More »

Now FPL is asking the State Legislature to change the laws so (1) FPL won’t have to follow local regulations on land use and Everglades protection, and (2) the Governor and Cabinet cannot order FPL to underground the lines. So far, our own State Senator, Jose Javier Rodriguez, has been the only one to oppose this law in committee.  FPL is fast-tracking approval.  It comes up for a floor vote in the Senate on Tuesday, thus the urgency to contact local Read More »
