CELEBRATE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF TEMPLE JUDEA

Miami's Community Newspapers is producing a special publication celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Temple Judea.

Since its founding, Temple Judea has been committed to honoring the ancient traditions of Judaism, while acknowledging the need for the synagogue to remain relevant in an ever-changing world.

In today's over-saturated, splintered media market, one way to make sure your advertising message connects with people is to place it in a special issue like this one.

BOB WELSH MANAGED TO PUT BOTH FEET IN HIS MOUTH

Only a person with a big problem would pick a fight with the Girl Scouts. Bob Welsh recently accused the Girl Scouts of being “too white”.  Now Welsh is under fire for his own racial insensitivity regarding the Girl Scouts. The South Miami City Commission recently undertook a piece of legislation that would have given them the right to do a top-to-bottom inspection of The Little House... Read More »

JAVIER FERNANDEZ IS THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR FLORIDA HOUSE DISTRICT 114

Over the years, there’s been a lot of controversy surrounding holders of Florida House Seat 114. It’s time for that to come to hard stop – with Democrat Javier Fernandez, the best candidate in the upcoming Special Election, May 1. This is the seat vacated by Daisy Baez, a Democrat who failed to disclose the correct address on her voter’s registration. You may recall, she unceremoniously resigned from the District 114 seat in November 2017 after pleading guilty to perjury. That prompted Gov. Rick Scott to call for the May 1 special election. But we’re not here to rehash... Read More »

THE POWER OF PHILANTHROPY

What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “the power of philanthropy” in relation to student success? One of the first things likely to come to mind is scholarships. Scholarships keep students from having to work long hours to support their education or drop out of school entirely. They provide the financial support needed to help students stay in school and complete their degrees on time. Additionally, scholarships help students avoid debt, which can hobble them financially, just when their careers are taking off. Student loan debt is an ever-growing problem. According to the most recent data from Forbes... Read More »

VACCINATIONS PROTECT YOUR PET

Keeping your pet’s vaccinations up to date is essential to ensure the health and wellbeing of your furry family member. As the Chief Veterinarian at Miami-Dade Animal Services, I can attest to the thousands of pets entering the shelter every year that either have no vaccinations or lack documentation to show vaccines were ever administered. While not an exact measure, we estimate that over 70% of the more than 29,000 pets received by the shelter last year had no identification, which either means the pet had no vaccine or we could not identify any vaccination history.  This presents an incredible challenge for shelter veterinarians and shelter pet caregivers. While rabies is the only State-mandated vaccination pets must receive, there are many dangerous and sometimes fatal viruses that pets also... Read More »
