RSC's Hamlet will be broadcast to UK cinemas and selected countries worldwide on 8 June 2016

Can’t watch Hamlet in the theatre? Then join the RSC for an incredible cinematic experience on 8 June, broadcast live from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Hamlet has the world at his feet. Young, wealthy and living a hedonistic life studying abroad. Then word reaches him that his father is dead.

Returning to his family he finds his world is utterly changed, his certainties smashed and his home a foreign land. Struggling to understand his place in a new world order, he faces a stark choice. Submit, or rage against the injustice of his new reality.

Simon Godwin directs,  Paapa Essiedu as Hamlet (read interview) , last seen holding his own in 'The 9 Hamlets sketch' in Shakespeare Live From the RSC, alongside Judi Dench and Benedict Cumberbatch. Hamlet also stars BAFTA nominee Cyril Nri as Polonius.

This is a production of great power, colour and vitality, with the world Hamlet inhabits described by Simon Godwin as “.. Denmark re-conceived as modern state influenced by the ritual, beauty and cosmology of west Africa.” And with the following incredible cast this is a cinema broadcast that just can’t be missed.
