The CAC is pleased to report that the integration of the former Coaches of Canada website and database into coach.ca and the Locker are progressing very well. We anticipate a formal launch of both before the end of the fiscal year, March 31, 2016.

What does this mean for coaches? It will truly create a “one stop shop” for everything coaching, where your NCCP number will be your key identifier. Furthermore, it will contribute to creating a professional environment around coaching, as your professional status will now be included in the Locker alongside your NCCP education and professional development.

Watch for further updates on these, as the calendar turns over!

“Empowering our Kids and Athletes to Reach Their Potential”

Come and share an evening with Shawnee Harle
Shawnee is an Assistant Coach with our Candian Women's Olympic Team and Canada’s only NCCP Level 5 basketball coach. She is an NCCP Master Course Conductor and is also the Director of Coaching Development and the Technical Director for Basketball Alberta. Her presentation will be both inspiring and enlightening.
Red Deer Minor Basketball Association, Red Deer Public Schools, Alberta Sport Connection and Alberta Sport Development Centre, are pleased to co-host this event. We encourage coaches, teachers and parents to attend this non sport specific presentation.
This session will give parents and coaches the tools they need to help their kids and athletes handle:
- frustration and disappointment
- sitting on the bench
- mistakes
- fear of failure
- negative coaches, teammates, fans, opponents and parents

Athletes' Resistance To Self-Reporting of Concussion Continues Despite Increased Education
Athletes continue to underreport concussion (1) even when they know the signs and symptoms and that they risk serious injury if they continue to play with a concussion or return too soon from injury, say researchers in three recent studies.  The findings suggest that efforts to change the culture of contact and collision sports and the attitudes of athletes towards reporting concussion through education, don't appear to be working, at least so far.
