Bliss Sisters August 2011 Newsletter - Sensual You

This month the Bliss Sisters really went out on a limb and around a pole...with an exotic dance lesson at OC Pole Fitness. One of our members has been practicing pole dancing as part of her fitness routine for over four years now, and she honored us with a private party and demonstration of her skills, and GIRL!!!, were we WOW'd and in AWE. She was like Cirque Du Soleil meets Swan Lake at a hip night club! So impressive, and what a testament to what our bodies are capable of if we choose to commit and work hard at something.

As for the dance class...I personally went into it with a feeling of, "I am going to suck at this, but what the hell, it will be a good laugh." And that was pretty much what it was, although I did engage and go with the sensual flow. The lights were dim enough, and in the comfortable presence of my blissing sisters...I crawled on the floor and flung my hair around like I was somethin'!! I even learned a little number using the wall. But, by the time I got home my gumption was gone, so unfortunately, my new-found moves were lost on my partner Rick. Sorry honey! The group of us had a great time, and some of the ladies had some real talent for it, picking up the routines quickly and lookin' like they knew what they were doin'. I won't name names, but maybe this wasn't their first time on a pole : )

One thing I know for sure is...we gotta let go, and just be our most sensuous selves from time to time. As women, we have received messages throughout our lives that if we are too sexy, we will be labeled a "bad girl". Well, guess what, "good girls" have sex too, and not only that, we can bring it with Bliss! So there! If you are not doing so already, let out your inner sex kitten and be divinely good...whoever you are with will thank you for it. I promise.

While we are on the subject of sensuality, why not add in intimacy?! Here's my latest blog post on the subject...

In order to create sincere connections in our lives we must reveal ourselves.

By expressing what is really in our hearts and on our minds we invite others to do the same…and that’s where the magic happens. Sharing ourselves with others helps us to understand ourselves and we also help others to discover themselves. Until we can achieve real intimacy in our relationships, with our partners, with friends, family, co-workers and even people we don’t know, we are not experiencing genuine acceptance. When we filter ourselves and try to maintain an appearance of “everything is great” when it isn’t, or holding back even the best of news, because we are afraid it will be perceived as bragging, we are doing ourselves a disservice. We are not relating to others in a meaningful way, as we are keeping them at a “safe” distance.

I have lived many of my years fearful of people knowing who I really am…sharing the ugly details…afraid that if they really knew me, they wouldn’t love me. How could they?

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
