Greetings, friends everywhere!
As the anniversary of the start of last year's Israeli assault on Gaza comes near, the situation of Gaza's 1.8 million residents continues to be dire. And it is still in the news. The United Nations recently released its report into last year's assault, and as I write this a new flotilla of peace activists is steaming toward Gaza...

Over the past few months, the amazing Gaza-Palestinian writers Laila El-Haddad and Refaat Alareer have worked hard to pull together an informative, multi-genre anthology that describes the pain and resilience of Gaza's people during-- and in the difficult months since-- Israel's 2014 assault. We're pleased that we'll be launching the resulting anthology, Gaza Unsilenced, on July 8, to mark the anniversary of the start of the assault.

|
The main "event" for the launch will be the airing on The Real News Network of a special show in which El-Haddad, from TRNN's Baltimore Studio, and Alareer (we hope, from Gaza) will talk about their lives, about Gaza Unsilenced, and about what supporters everywhere can do to help Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere win justice and liberation.
This web-TV show, to be hosted by TRNN Executive Editor Paul Jay, will "air" on TRNN's website sometime in the evening (EST) of July 8. Please watch your inbox, or our Facebook or Twitter feeds, for further details.

Resources for remembrance and activism...
If your community is holding events or actions related to Gaza, please know that Gaza Unsilenced contains numerous resources to inform and inspire your supporters and your friends.
The book has thoughtful, original essays by Alareer and El-Haddad. It also has around 35 other contributors, including numerous well-known political analysts, photographers, creative writers, and thinkers... The editors gave pride of place to writings and photos from the men and women of Gaza itself, but the other contributions they included come from around the world.

You can download the book's full Table of Contents here. Several of the items in Section 5 are wonderful poems. There are tweets sent out from inside Gaza's Shifa Hospital during the carnage, searing photographs, tender essays memorializing lost loved ones, descriptions of the terror of Gaza's children in the days of fire... and much more.
A somber 16-page section at the end of the book lists the names of all the Gazans killed during the 51-day assault.

We have published Gaza Unsilenced to be a resource for everyone who wants to understand, and radically improve, the lot of Gaza's 1.8 million people. You can learn more about the book-- and buy your copy-- at this page on our website. Let us know if a community group you work with would like to place an order for eight or more copies, in which case we can give you a significant discount.
... And stay tuned for the final news of the timing of the book's web-TV launch from The Real News Network!
Sincerely,
Helena and the team at Just World Books
