Hughes embraces reporting season

It’s been a busy few months at Hughes as we wrote, designed and/or edited annual reports for several clients including HomeStart Finance, Adelaide Airport Limited, Flinders Port Holdings and LLL.
The diverse skills of the team allow us to deliver a turnkey solution for annual reports incorporating project management, concept design, copywriting, artwork and production.
This year, more of our clients have adopted or are moving towards an integrated reporting model that not only reports on business and financial performance, but also their performance across environment, community, asset management and human capital.

South Australia's largest household recyclables facility opens

South Australia’s largest and most advanced household recyclables facility has been officially opened, with the Southern Materials Recovery Facility (SMRF) able to process 60,000 tonnes of yellow bin recyclables every year.
Located in Seaford Heights, the SMRF is a joint initiative of Australian recycling and resource recovery specialist Re.Group and the Southern Region Waste Recycling Authority (SRWRA), which is a joint subsidiary of three South Australian Councils – City of Holdfast Bay, City of Marion and City of Onkaparinga.
The state-of-the-art 6,000m2 SMRF deploys world-leading advanced screening and optical sorting technologies to process 25,000kg of recyclables every hour including cardboard, plastic and glass, and is designed to meet the highest standards of recycling purity to ensure nothing goes to waste.
Hughes arranged and managed the official opening event on-behalf Re.Group and the Councils including catering, logistics, signage, video and presentation design, as well as stakeholder and media management.

Kallis Energy announces large-scale renewable hydrogen project for South Australia

Kallis Energy Investments has announced plans to develop the Moolawatana Renewable Hydrogen Project – a large scale (up to 6000 MW) combined solar and wind farm to produce low-cost renewable (or green) hydrogen on Moolawatana Station in the north of South Australia (SA).
Situated just east of the northern Flinders Ranges, the location has one of the best combinations of wind and solar resources in Australia that could facilitate cost effective production of green hydrogen for export to global markets – notably Japan and Korea.
The project is expected to involve about 3000 MW of solar and 3000 MW of wind power generation, together with electrolysers and desalination plant to produce green hydrogen, which would be transported via a dedicated hydrogen pipeline to, or near, Port Bonython and transformed into green ammonia ready for shipping to overseas markets.

Updating your passwords

As we count down the days to the Christmas break and prepare to step away from our desks (and computers, tablets, and maybe even your phone!), we recommend doing one thing to help keep your digital channels safe and ready for the new year... update your passwords.

If you haven't done this recently, here are some strong password tips:

  • Don't use personal information
  • Don't use real words
  • Create longer passwords
  • Change your password regularly
  • Don't use the same password for multiple accounts
  • Consider setting up 2-Factor Authentication for your accounts
  • Don't write them down - consider using a password management tool like LastPass or 1password
