Work starts on SKYCITY'S Adelaide Casino expansion

There was strong media interest in the first day of construction on the $330 million expansion of the SKYCITY Adelaide Casino last month.

Adelaide Casino General Manager Luke Walker was on site to mark the occasion, alongside Hansen Yuncken State Manager Mark Rosenboom and the Premier of South Australia, Steven Marshall.

The expansion will deliver a world-class entertainment destination, offering new restaurants, bars, cafes and a luxury hotel and spa.

It will bring together 1000 construction professionals over the life of the project, and create a further 800 operational jobs when complete. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2020.

Kellermeister awarded best shiraz in Australia on world stage

Kellermeister Wines is the toast of the Barossa Valley after clinching two gold medals and ranking as Australia’s best shiraz producer at the prestigious Syrah du Monde international wine competition in France.
Significantly, the small family-owned winery’s new flagship shiraz ‘The Meister’ was Australia’s highest scoring wine at the competition, ranking in the top five globally.
Winemaker Mark Pearce (pictured) was “over the moon” with the judges’ endorsement of the inaugural release of The Meister, which he says is a step up from its popular Wild Witch shiraz: “The Meister Shiraz has been a labour of love for me over the years, so to quietly release it and receive such high praise on the world stage is incredibly satisfying,” he said.
For those wanting to try The Meister, it’s now on sale for $250 a bottle.

Feature video: Musica Viva

Music education provides cognitive and social development advantages to children. However, only 35% of public schools offer music programs, which means less than 50% of SA primary school children have the opportunity to learn an instrument. This month, Hughes visited Musica Viva to learn about the impact its music education programs are having on the lives of children in some of the state’s most disadvantaged schools.
