The latest news from Hughes PR, Adelaide - an experienced team of successful communications professionals. December 2011
Dear Hughes PR

Welcome to the December edition of Hughes News! Firstly, we'd like to wish you a Merry Christmas from all the team at Hughes Public Relations. We hope you have a safe and happy holiday season.

Kate Potter to lead social media

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Kate Potter to lead our social media communication capability. Kate joined us in 2010 and is experienced in the development and delivery of social media strategies, public relations and media management and monitoring.

In her new role, she will be responsible for leading the consultancy’s intellectual knowledge of social media platforms and their application, and champion their integration into communication programs delivered by the consultancy. Her promotion follows a decision by Michelle Prak to pursue her passion for social media outside the consultancy.
“All members of our consulting team now have leading edge knowledge of social media platforms and Kate’s role will be to ensure that we remain focussed on the commercial application of appropriate social media channels as we deliver comprehensive and strategic communication programs for our clients,” said Hughes Public Relations Principal Tim Hughes.

Santa Fun Run

We spread some Christmas cheer by entering a team in to the Variety SA Santa Fun Run last weekend. Along with 1,000 other South Australians, our team jogged 4km around the River Torrens dressed as the man in red to raise funds towards brightening the lives of young children in need.

The fun run was sponsored by our client, Adelaide Convention Centre, and we were only too happy to lend our support to Variety SA's fantastic cause!

Award-winning clients

Congratulations to two of our clients, McLaren Vale Beer Company and Adelaide Airport, who are both celebrating major award wins this month.

McLaren Vale Beer Company’s new VALE/DRK was judged best Dark Lager at the Sydney Beer Festival, and also scored a gold medal in the Dark Lagers category at the Royal Queensland Food & Wine Show.

Adelaide Airport was voted Australia’s Capital City Airport of the Year by its peers at the Australian Airports Association’s National Industry Awards in Brisbane, the third time Adelaide Airport has won the award in the past six years.

ACC to open new Regatta's

Our client, the Adelaide Convention Centre is preparing to open the new Regatta’s Bistro + Bar and the Panorama Suite which will boast some of the best views in town. Set to open in mid January, the venues will offer striking views over the River Torrens, Elder Park and the Adelaide Oval.
The Convention Centre’s fresh take on its award-winning bistro and the new function and events space will be the first to open in a soon to be revitalised Riverbank precinct.
The upstairs Panorama Suite function space can cater for business events including boardroom meetings, lunches and stand-up cocktails. Introductory grand opening specials are available by contacting or 8210 6743.

We wish you a Merry Christmas

Our office will close over Christmas from 23 December and reopen on 3 January. The team at Hughes PR wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

If you need us over the break, just call 8412 4100 and you’ll find us. We won’t be far away!
