Education Director Meets the Press

Stacey Benner, Kids Smiles Education Director, recently shared her oral health knowledge at a mock press conference hosted by Independence Blue Cross Foundation. At the event, young reporters from the nonprofit, Healthy NewsWorks, were given the opportunity to ask oral health-related questions in their first-ever press conference setting. Carolyn Beeler, health and science reporter for WHYY-FM and NewsWorks.org, shared her background and inspiration for pursuing journalism with the students before acting as moderator. The students will use Ms. Benner's answers to develop articles for future editions of Healthy NewsWorks newspapers, distributed in their schools.

Brighter Smiles in Washington, DC

Kids Smiles of DC has received a much-needed splash of color to its Benning Road facade. New signs on the front and corner of the building are an inviting addition that help convey the Kids Smiles kid-friendly approach to oral health care. The characters featured on the front panels of the building were illustrated and donated by Philadelphia-based artist Rafiq Young.

Welcome to New KS Dentists

Kids Smiles has recently added four new dentists to our team, including two pediatric dentists. We are pleased to welcome Emily Eilerman, DMD,  Ritu Manchanda, DMD, and Shipra Puri, DDS to our Philadelphia dental centers. At Kids Smiles of DC, Jonelle Grant, DDS, has joined the team as well. She is 1 of only 19 pediatric dentists in Washington, DC. She also holds a Masters of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Kids Smiles from various child and family public dental health programs. We are proud to have our new staff on board and encourage you to say hello the next time you visit!
Celebrate with Kids Smiles!
There are many milestones to celebrate in life and often several in a year. When people ask what you want as a gift, do you struggle to think of anything that won't end up hiding in a closet or collecting dust on your shelf? Do your children receive so many toys that you can't keep track? Wouldn't it be great if you could share your gifts with children in need? Well, you can! ECHOage has developed a website where you can host a birthday (or any other celebration) through which monetary gifts from your party-goers are split between Kids Smiles and you. The step-by-step process is simple, and even allows you to easily thank everyone that participates. Kids Smiles will be sure to recognize your generous party-goers too! We hope we can celebrate with you soon!
