Great God in heaven, we thank you for the rain!
We ask you to bring relief to all people who are suffering from the fires and Covid-19.
We ask you to give each of us wisdom as we prepare to cast our votes and grace as we talk to our friends and relatives about casting their votes.

We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let’s start a movement where we contact either Governor Brown or your local legislator and ask them to join California in expunging the records of incarcerated firefighters so that they can apply for jobs with the fire department when they are released. Dozens of Oregon prisoners have died fighting fires over the years, being paid pennies per day, and the ones who survive are qualified to do this work but can’t even apply for the gig.

Thinking about becoming a catholic?
The RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process for welcoming adult newcomers into the Catholic Church.  If you are thinking about becoming Catholic, and have not received one or more of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation), then this process is for you.To keep everyone safe during the pandemic, our preparation for the Sacraments will consist of short videos to watch at home, Zoom sessions on Sunday from 11:00-12:30 PM, and informal weekly check-ins on Wednesday evenings. We will formally begin our sessions this Sunday, September 13, 2020. For more information contact Michael Prendergast mprendergast@archdpdx.org
We also welcome any parishioner who may want to serve as a sponsor or be part of the RCIA team to contact Michael.
