VIDE Sustainable Graphic Design Experience

Clients of all colours are more often
 of the fact that sustainability
matters to
 both the environment and
 community at the same time.
In fact, sustainability and communication
thereof has become essential in order to
remain competitive. Today’s juncture
requires design professionals who in
addition to the creative talent are also
perfectly familiar with the environmental
issues, sustainability principles, soft skills,
strategy an reputation management:
designers, who can think and act out of
the box and who are perfectly able to
advise companies and organisations in
their ‘change agents’ role.

So investing in knowledge development
in the sustainability domains not only
means you are protecting Mother Earth,
but also your own career as a graphic

VIDE seeks to promote sustainable
graphic design in the Netherlands,
provide information and organise
educational programmes, inspiration,
debates and several design research
programmes to contribute to the practical
training of students and professionals in
the future.

Organised by VIDE and designer Andrea Fuchs

Andrea Fuchs is a graphic designer with
a very special interest in sustainable
design solutions.
She is initiator of this new VIDE Summer
Design Experience. After studying
communication design in Kiel, Germany,
Andrea Fuchs (1966) moved to the
Netherlands to continue studying graphic
design at ArtEZ in Arnhem.
After graduation she began working as a
designer at Studio Dumbar, where she
had been involved in many big national
and international corporate identity
projects and received several
distinctions, among them a D&AD
Silver Award.
After three years she shortly worked at
Studio Petr van Blokland until she founded
her own design studio in 1996.

Since then she combines working for both
Dutch and German clients with being a
lecturer and guest teacher at several
graphic design departments and
occasional as a member of design juries.

As a paper crazy since art school days
she pays special attention to environmen-
tal issues of paper and the paper industry.
During the past years her journey through
the many aspects of sustainability has led
to even more encouragement to
incorporate sustainable values into
corporate business decisions and graphic
design education.

Andrea lives and works in Haarlem.

VIDE Summer Type Design Experience 2011
Registration is still possible until
1 July 2011.
Meet several professionals and students in The Hague and experience what former participants already experienced:
Angel Lin (USA): "It was a perfect summer! I didn't know what I was jumping into, but this was wonderful and more than I expected. I hope VIDE enjoyed it as much as we did"
Diane Chen (USA) wrote: "I don't think I've been this tired in a long time. But it was very liberating - believe it or not!"
Hannah Kathrin Zenk (Germany):
"I liked the Experience very much, learned a lot and became sure about my plans for the future. For me The Hague and Berlin were the places to be. Everything was quite spontaneous"
