Internships and Fellowships

'Tis the season to be scouting out and applying for internships. To help you with your search, the folks over at Poynter have put together a list of 80 (and growing) internship and fellowship opportunities with a media focus. The list includes large and small media organizations from across the country, but luckily our area is home to some of the best in the field (USA Today, The Washington Post, Politico, Chronicle of Higher Education, and DC bureaus of other national papers and networks).

Click here to read the full list over at

Here are a few opportunities from their list that you should consider applying for:

USA Today — As part of the USA TODAY team, you will develop, integrate and apply skill sets and experiences in support of our newsroom team. The purpose of the internship experience is to provide opportunities where college (undergrad and grad) students can develop, grow and become the next generation of talent for USA TODAY. Located in McLean, VA.

David E. Rosenbaum Reporting Internship  The position, which is co-sponsored by the foundation, is intended for aspiring reporters with a demonstrated interest in or aptitude for writing about government and policy. It is aimed at students who receive financial aid and who hope to become print journalists in Washington, DC.

The Chronicle of Higher Education — You’d be a full-time reporter in their Washington, DC newsroom. Simple as that.

Good luck with your applications!
